Hi Luca
Can you tell us if you're happy with the meeting minutes? It would be great if Jean-Marc could share them fairly quickly.

Hi Luca,
The preliminary draft report of the meeting of the bibliography commission is here

Grottocenter is a declared digital library, we had to do it for the Z39-50 server FR-740335301 BERNEX-BBS/SA Grottocenter has contained BBS data for over 5 years. The Scientific Commission of the Swiss Speleological Society has provided technical and financial support to the BBS since its creation over 50 years ago. For over 5 years, significant sums have been spent and a lot of work has been done to achieve the current results, with funding also provided by volunteers, the UIS, the FSE, and... the FFS, which funded the development of the BBS on Grottocenter (€2,000).
Currently, some FFS leaders are very opposed to Grottocenter and express this very strongly. But others support us; for example, we have many clubs, departmental, and regional committees in France that have agreed to have their data archived in the BBS on Grottocenter. The BBS as we know it today has cost over €300,000, including volunteer work over a 10-year period. No one is going to rewrite the software on their own. Isn't the Wikicaves association the right organization to administer the tool? It's very easy to change, but it would require building a new organization, which would require a lot of energy. Is it possible for the FFS to become responsible for this project? The UIS? I don't think so.
Jean-Marie Walter refuses to speak to me, which makes collaborative work impossible. Jean-Marc isn't going to call him every time, as he has just done several times. In my opinion, he can't administer a commission while opposing what it's doing: the current work has been approved by the UIS Bibliography Commission, the UISIC, and the UIS Bureau; it must continue and develop.
Jean-Marie is now a member of the UIS Bibliography Commission and can therefore participate in its work. Claude Alliod, who is Vice President of the FFS Bibliography Commission, has already been a member for a long time; he called me, and we communicate very regularly.
For my part, the link with the FFSpéléo is not broken: I am part of the documentation commission, the scientific commission, the database commission and the expeditions commission.
Regarding the work to reestablish contacts with libraries, it has already begun, but it must be seriously implemented.
The document below contains the information we currently have; it is freely editable.

Barbara Funk sends us a list of books and publications in the Austrian library every year. I've included her 2024 list in the BBS, but not yet the 2025 list. I've had a good conversation with Natalie Uomini, who's willing to help us, particularly by giving a presentation of the BBS in German. I communicate regularly with Michael Laumans, who will be a good liaison for the German libraries. I also have discussions with the librarians at the University of South Florida. The current question is whether they're willing to have their KARST PORTAL archives included in the BBS. Finally, I've had an email exchange with the Irish library; we'll have to try contacting them directly.
For me, the creation of a freely accessible global digital library on caves and karst is a project of the UIS Bibliography Commission. Therefore, all actions related to this project, such as the provision of Belgian, Italian, Austrian, and Spanish data, concern the UIS Bibliography Commission.
Some members of the FFSpéléo want to distinguish between the UIS and Grottocenter, the BBS and Grottocenter. But for the UIS board, Grottocenter is its database, its application.
As for the classification, we'll wait until the discussions are completed. I'll then ensure that it's included in the BBS, and I think other libraries will use it. It's great that we discussed, that you presented your classification to us, and that everyone can use it.
The internship ends Thursday evening, I will send you a message to present the work carried out and to thank Camille and Yohann Their professor tells me that 4 months of work by two engineers represents €50,000 of services that they have provided.

Dear Jean-Marc, Frederic and Ana this is the document with my addings highlighted in yellow, comments highlighted in yellow with red characters, and proposal of deleting in red. I think we must keep clearly distinguished the Bibliographic Commission and GrottoCenter, that are two different projects. The Bibliographic Commission coordinate projects and goals that are in dialogue with GrottoCenter, which is the official database for the bibliographic records (Ex BBS) designed by the UIS. We also must revitalize the relationship with the French Federation. See my comments in the document. We can have a videocall maybe in september to make the state of the art, and have also a in-person meeting in the next International Speleological Meeting in Italy (the 1st or 2nd of November) in Volta Mantovana. Finally, can you send me the latest version of the report for the UIS in Belo Horionte meeting? I think you shared one preliminary file weeks ago, but i can't find anymore (the days in the congress were really full and busy!).
Let me know your thoughts and kind regards Luca Pisani
