The Centro Italiano di Documentazione Speleologica – Biblioteca “Franco Anelli” https://speleoteca.biblioteche.it/library/Biblioteca-Franco-Anelli-Bologna/ (italian national registry code ICCU BO0394) includes a collection of over 30,000 monographic volumes and 1500 journals, together with special collections consisting of thousands of ancient prints, posters, postcards, newspaper archives and other non-book materials. The historical collection is particularly rich, with more than a hundred publications prior to 1831 and other rare volumes related to karst and caves. The Documentation Center was created by the Italian Speleological Society (SSI) in 1975, inheriting the former library of the SSI and the library of the Italian Institute of Speleology, in Postumia. The Library is located at the BiGeA Department of the University of Bologna, which allows its accessibility from Monday to Friday (9:00 AM to 5:30 PM) by email appointment. Since 2007, the Franco Anelli library has been the main referent and promoter of the "Speleoteca" project. The Speleoteca project was born in 2007 as a natural evolution of the former catalogue of the “Franco Anelli” library. The website www.speleoteca.it https://speleoteca.biblioteche.it/en/ is an "OPAC" (Online Public Access Catalogue) that allows free consultation of over 40.000 titles of speleological and karstological publications, belonging to 24 speleological libraries gathered under a single and shared catalogue.
